A lot of effort goes into a successful trip when fishing Cape Cod. Often times you only have a few hours on the water before you need to tend to work, the family, or a plethora of other items on your personal agenda.
Next time out on the water striped bass fishing with the tube and worm, remember to consider at least a few of the items on this list. Your tube and worm success ratio may very well increase as a result!
1) Are you fishing in an area containing bass?
If not, spend some time moving around until you find bait or bass using your sonar.
2) Are you trolling 3 tubes at once?
Trolling a tube on the port and starboard side is a good start-adding an additional tube down the middle is a sure way to increase your odds.
3) Are you using real worms or fake worms?
Nothing beats the real deal-resort to fakes only in times of dire straits.
4) What's your speed like?
Although we have caught big bass trolling the tube and worm at over 4.5mph on occasion (due to blustery wind conditions) we catch most of our fish when trolling between 2 and 2.5mph.
